Hallie and Reece Melton are first-generation agricultural producers in Routt County. On 35 acres of sagebrush rangeland in Toponas, Colorado, we knew we would be limited in what we could produce in a sustainable way. The answer was clearly chicken ranching. We are proud to produce rainbow assorted eggs for the local community here in Routt County and raise our hens on native pasture. For us, it is a top priority to produce nutritious and high-quality eggs in an ethical manner. Hen health starts with natural behaviors. Grazing native plants, hunting for insects, and taking dirt baths are all natural behaviors our hens are able to conduct on our free-range farm.
